COMMODITY.LIVE – source of truth for CircuitData
COMMODITY.LIVE aims to be neutral and generic so any industry can benefit from it. Making it possible to create and maintain product information the way your industry needs it. We have already addressed a few industries and communicated how they can benefit from using our solution. One such industry is the Printed Circuit Industry.
CircuitData.orgrecently released their Material Databasecontaining materials used in the process of making Printed Circuit Boards. The database will be populated with data from various sources and we can proudly announce that the first source of truth comes from COMMODITY.LIVE. A fair number of products and their brands have been created and specified in our solution and made compatible with the initiative to create one common language for the PCB industry. Any changes in COMMODITY.LIVE will be pulled on a daily basis through our powerful API and used to update the Material Database.
We still consider it crucial for industry 4.0 to have one common place to maintain and collect product information. There will always be clients/customers that are dependent on their systems, but the Material Database is a good example that extracting data from the ONE common place can easily be made and the data used further in client based apps.
The release of the database was published on CircuitData.org and one of the board members, Jan Pedersen, has made several mentions of this on his travel to APEX conference in San Diego. Reportedly the interest for the database is there. In fact several major names in the industry have requested meetings to gather further knowledge of the newly released tool. You can read more about this on the blog that Jan updates during his trip.
